How To Make Cornflour Slime – Messy Play Activity

Hi Everyone, in January me and Jasper went to a messy play session at the local children’s centre. There were 3 different messy activities to play in including cornflour slime, homemade play dough and cooked multi coloured pasta. Jasper had a lot of fun playing in the slime, watching it drip everywhere and trying to eat it with a spoon, so I thought I would try and recreate it at home. I also found the the slime really satisfying to play with because it feels like a solid when you scoop it up but it drips like a liquid, really weird! I read online that it is great to make this slime with older children as well as babies to introduce them to the concept of solids and liquids. So I think this would be a fun activity to do whatever age your child is but a little warning it did get really messy so I would recommend having plenty of towels on hand or a bath already run!

5 Ways To Make Your Home Safer When Your Baby Starts To Crawl

Hey everyone! Over last weekend Jasper has finally mastered crawling and he can now get about half way across the lounge, I am so not ready for this level of movement! Before this he spent a few weeks trying to get in to the crawling position without face planting the floor or just belly flopping. Then he spent a while rocking back and forth on all fours before finally getting on the move. I think I was slightly in denial that he would eventually move and now that he is, I am in full panic about baby proofing the house. So this post is about the 5 things I have been doing this week to make my house safe for a crawling baby.

Healthy Leek And Sweet Potato Soup Recipe

A few weeks ago I posted a Healthy Green Pesto Recipe and I really enjoyed putting the recipe together and taking the pictures. So I thought I would post another recipe, this time its my leek and sweet potato soup. This has been one of my absolute favourite lunches over winter and Jasper really loves it too, which makes lunchtimes nice and easy when we eat the same! I find this lunch nice and filling because of the sweet potatoes and the added protein of the lentils and it is really tasty too. You might think that the soup looks too chunky for you because I like a really thick soup but I have included options in the recipes to make it the consistency you like.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I hope you are all having a lovely Valentine’s Day with who ever is special to you; children, other halves, pals or gals! I have spent the day with this little man at a Tiny Talk class and going for a walk in the sun (it’s finally starting to feel like spring, hopefully it lasts because I am so ready for warmer weather!). Now we are just waiting for daddy to come home so we can have a veggie sausage roast for tea.

What To Store In A Baby Memory Box

Hey! This post is all about what things I have decided to store in Jasper’s baby memory box. After Christmas, I was looking at the January sales on the JoJo Maman Bébé website and found that all of their ‘Born In 2018’ range was quite discounted. So I decided to buy the memory box in this range which I think I got for £3 in the end (I don’t think there are any ‘Born In 2018’ boxes left but there are ‘Born In 2019’ ones!). Since I was pregnant I have been gathering things to keep in a memory box, so I am really glad I finally have somewhere to keep these things safe.

Baby Birth Sampler Idea

Hi guys, so this post was inspired by this week’s . The topic of the chat was all about self care and it was really nice to speak to some lovely ladies all about how we try and look after ourselves (easier said than done with little ones!). The last question of the chat was to set ourselves a challenge for the week ahead so I set my goal to try and set aside some time to work on Jasper’s birth sampler. I thought by setting this goal and now writing a blog post on it, it would really motivate me to do some stitching.

Jasper’s Birth Sampler So Far.

I bought Jasper’s birth sampler when I was about 20 weeks pregnant, before I knew if he was a boy or a girl, and started it shortly after I got it. I really loved the design and it matches quite well with the theme of his nursery. Before Jasper was born I would work on his sampler quite a bit but recently I haven’t progressed with it as much.

My plan is now that I have posted it on here, it will inspire me to make time to work on it more, and hopefully I will have another update to post soon. So far this week I have managed to put some stitches in to the horse square, so far so good! I find stitching really relaxing so it would probably be good to try and work on it a bit more and I would really love to have it finished for Jasper.

I would love to know if you have ever made a birth sampler or if there are any you like.

Thanks for reading, Jen x

6 Fun Classes To Take Your Baby To

Hi Everyone, so this post is all about the baby classes I have taken Jasper to. I wanted to share this because when Jasper was born I had no idea where to start with baby classes. There was just so many to choose from and I didn’t know what any of them would involve and whether they would be any good. I know that a lot of how good a class is can depend on the people there and the people running it but I still wanted to share my experiences of these classes which I genuinely found really fun!

Baby Has Had A Cold

Hi Guys, this week has been quite a full on mum week because Baby Jasper has had a cold. It started on Monday really after quite a restless Sunday nights sleep (he doesn’t normally sleep great but this was even more disturbed). He wanted more milk during the night than normal so I guess it was to up his fluids to help him feel better. He then spent all of Monday sneezing a lot and being very snuffly and he also had two naps that were quite long for him (just over an hour). But despite being ill, he seemed in pretty good spirits so we decided to go out for a walk to get some fresh air and pop in to the library and to the park. I’ve included a picture of Jasper looking less than impressed on our walk below.

Healthy Green Pesto Recipe

Hi everyone, a bit of a different post for you today, my super easy pesto recipe. I really like making my own pesto as I find it more refreshing and not as heavy as jars of pesto. I also try and make it a bit healthier than pre made pesto with a little bit less oil and I make it completely plant based. I just wanted to share this recipe because I really love it and I hope you will like it too. Jasper also really likes when I mash up the meal pictured below, which I find a bit odd as i thought pesto might be quite a strong flavour for a baby!

Babies First Trip To The Dentist

On Tuesday, we took Jasper to the dentist for the first time. In the UK, it is recommended that babies first go to the dentist when their first tooth appears, the main reasons for this are so they get familiar with the idea of going to the dentist and so the dentist can give parents advise about looking after their children’s teeth. Jasper hasn’t actually got a tooth yet so we were a little early in taking him but as we were due check ups ourselves we thought the dentist might as well have a peek at his gums too.
