Maternal Mental Health: My Story Of Separation Anxiety

With maternal mental health week drawing to a close, I thought I would share my story of learning to cope with separation anxiety. Before I had Jasper I had never really suffered with anxiety or any mental health issues really. And although I was aware that having a baby could lead to things like the baby blues and post natal depression, I had never really given it much thought and I really didn’t think I would experience these conditions. I now realise that maternal mental health is so important. It’s not surprising really given that you go through a massive life changing experience. Then mix that with all the hormones racing through your body, it’s no wonder that your mental health could need some support.

The New Mum / Mom Tag 2019

Hello! I have seen this tag going around on Youtube for a few weeks and, although I haven’t actually been tagged, I really liked the questions and wanted to give it a go! I love being a mummy to Jasper and that this also means that I can now answer questions like these. I hope you enjoy reading my answers to these questions and I’d be fascinated to read your answers if you decide to take part.

A rare picture of me looking presentable in actual clothes and make up!

Lifestyle

Welcome!

Hi Everyone! My name is Jen, I’m 26 years old and I live with my partner James and my baby boy Jasper. Jasper is almost 5 months old and I know it’s so cliché to say but I honestly can’t believe how fast the time has gone.

I have started this blog to share my journey through parenthood and to share my experiences of pregnancy and birth with you. I hope that you find reading these experiences both enjoyable and interesting. I also hope to include some mum tips that I learn along my parenting journey which may also be useful for you.

I am also very interested in healthy living and nutrition so would love a place to share the healthy recipes I create and the different foods that I eat. Just a little disclaimer, I’m no Gillian McKeith, I am just really interested and have done lots of my own research. I like to eat mostly plant based food so hopefully you will enjoy my posts and maybe get a bit of your own health inspiration.

Thanks for reading and welcome, I’m really excited to start posting!
